The Prader-Willi Research Foundation of Australia (PWRFA) aims to transform the lives of people living with Prader Willi Syndrome (PWS) and their families by enabling innovative, and best in class research.

PWRFA welcomes applications for Australian research projects that focus on any aspect of PWS.  We will consider applications from both laboratory and clinical researchers, in either basic and/or applied science.  Research projects will be reviewed by our expert Scientific Advisory Council and MUST have scientific merit and relevance to PWS.

Relevance to PWS:

  • Does the proposed study address an important problem in the field of Prader-Willi syndrome research?

  • How will the successful completion of the proposed studies advance our understanding of PWS and/or lead to the goal of developing effective therapies?

  • What will be the effect of these studies on the concepts, methods, tools and/or interventions in the field of PWS and related research?

  • Is this study likely to produce a useful resource for the PWS field?

PWRFA supports research via two funding streams:

  1. Directed and strategically-targeted funding.  Applications are accepted at any time. If you believe your research is a good fit with our strategic priorities please contact the Research Director for further discussions grants@praderwilli.org.au

  2. Open and competitive calls for PWS Research Applications.

2025 Grant Round

This is an open and competitive call for 300-word Expression of Interest (EOI) applications for Australian research projects. The grant is valued at up to $50,000 AUD. Priority will be given to projects which align with the PWS Research Roadmap. This year’s grant round will focus on basic and translational science projects. Clinical projects will be considered in subsequent rounds.

The Grant Round will follow a 2-step process:

1) Expression of Interest (2000 characters, including spaces – approx. 300 words)
2) Researchers with successful EOIs will be invited to submit a full application

EOIs can be submitted via this Microsoft Form: https://forms.office.com/r/euKnuMVC6r
